A morepork, named Nightshade by MoreFM listeners, who has spent the past two months recovering from treatment for a broken foot and concussion at Massey Univeristy’s Wildbase Hospital, has been released in the Papaitonga Scenic Reserve near Levin on Tuesday 2 August.

The Lion Foundation have contributed towards Wildbase Recovery’s June fundraising push, donating $150,000 towards the 2900-square-metre rehabilitation facility. The Wildbase Recovery facility is scheduled to open in the Palmerston North, Victoria Esplanade, early 2018.

Department of Conservation Director-General, Lou Sanson, and Lower North Island Director, Reg Kemper met with Wildbase Recovery Community Trust representatives at the proposed national wildlife rehabilitation aviaries’ site in Palmerston North’s Victoria Esplanade on Friday 10 June.

Independent filmmakers, DKLV from the Netherlands, will be treated to a behind the scenes tour of Wildbase Hospital at 9am on Monday, 23 May 2016. The visit follows the Palmerston North premiere screening of their movie, The Greenstone, which is also a Rotary fundraiser for the national wildlife rehabilitation aviary project, Wildbase Recovery.

A New Zealand Falcon, who has spent the past three months recovering from treatment for a broken femur and damaged wing at Massey University’s Wildbase Hospital, was released at New Plymouth’s Pukeiti Gardens today.
